Meet the Spolars

Hello! We’re so excited to share with you what God is doing through us, and the church that’s emerging. Both San Gabriel Valley natives, we’ve always called the SGV our home and long to see it renewed and reached. For the past 8+ years, we’ve been serving at Chinese Bible Missions Church, where Christopher was a pastor. Today, we’re focused on planting a gospel-centered, intercultural, and intergenerational church. Lets’s reach the SGV together.

We’re planting a church in west San Gabriel Valley

Though we're open to anyone from anywhere, we're focusing our attention on the most racially and economically diverse region in the valley. Our mission is to help people (re)discover Jesus, learning to live with him and like him.

Why a new church here?

The church is in decline everywhere in the U.S., but we believe the SGV is ripe for new churches for a few reasons. Yes, there are churches here, but there is a need for greater saturation of gospel-centered community, intercultural learning, and the raising up of future church leaders, pastors, and planters.

Here’s a few of our distinctives below

1) Discipleship Renewal

We want to see a people (re)discover the way of Jesus, and the SGV is full of people who don’t know Jesus, left the church, or are hungry for more than just “church.” We need more churches that are gospel-centered and practical in living like Jesus in everyday life.

2) Redemptive Diversity

The great diversity of the SGV is yet to be fully reflected in churches and church leadership. We desire to see a diverse church united around the gospel, with the tools necessary to honor and lead people of different cultures and experiences than their own. We don’t want to just be diverse—we want to redeem our differences into gifts.

3) Generational Impact

With multiple seminaries and universities nearby, we’re strategically located to reach younger generations. We want to recruit, train, and empower a diverse generation to reach their campus and beyond.

We’re inviting you to partner with us in 3 simple ways

Prayerfully - No plans or strategies to reach the SGV can save anyone—we need God to work and move in our midst. We're looking for people willing to commit to regular prayer for God to move through us.

Financially - We estimate a 3-year timeline for sustainability. We are looking for partners to give one-time or recurring donations for up to 3 years.

Physically - As you've heard the vision for this church, the Lord may be putting a burden on you to join the team. God has already begun gathering a diverse team—will you join too?
